Your CWU ORNT does not believe that Openreach needed to take this course of action.

2024 AGM and Gold Badge Award

The branch AGM was held at the Royal Wells Hotel in Tunbridge Wells on February 14th 2024. Being that the meeting was held on Valentines day meant that the numbers attending were down on what is normal, but there was enough to conduct the business of the AGM.

Resounding ‘YES’ to BT Group pay deal

Members across BT, Openreach and EE have voted by three-to-one to accept a CWU-brokered pay deal which delivers an additional 2.5% increase this year – on top of the £1,500 flat rate increase that was paid out in January – and a further across-the-board 4% increase that will apply from April 1 next year.

BT to cut 55,000 jobs with up to a fifth replaced by AI

Telecoms giant BT is to shed up to 55,000 jobs by the end of the decade, mostly in the UK, as it cuts costs.

Up to a fifth of those cuts will come in customer services as staff are replaced by technologies including artificial intelligence.
